A fine film of kinetic alloy fillings, held at distance from the user via a magnetic field. On impact with a high speed projectile, the kinetic friction causes surrounding fibres to contract towards each other, resulting in the destruction of the projectile, and the fibres themselves. Each successive hit lessens the coverage, and there by defensive benefits. The shield is able to protect the combatant from low calibre ordinance and low yield explosive shrapnel. Used primarily during urban suppression.
